A bit summary from traning sessions that we held recently

Recently we have held some national level training sessions that are very interesting for education practitioners.

The first one was the National Level Laboratory Management Training and Introduction to Renewable Energy Teaching Kit. This training session which was held on October 6, 2012 was led by Dra. Cucu Zaenab Subarkah, M.Pd. (Chemistry lecturer at UIN Bandung) who spoke about Laboratory Management Techniques, and two representatives from leXsolar (Mr. Azmi Bin Mustapha – leXsolar Malaysia Sdn Bhd) and Ms. Katherina Vogt (leXsolar GmbH Germany), who gave introductions to Renewable Energy Kit. 38 people participated in this training session. They came from 7 provinces and 9 cities/regencies in Indonesia (West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, Lampung, East Java, Banten and DKI Jakarta).

During the first session, training participants were introduced to Renewable Energy Teaching Kit. Mr. Azmi Bin Mustapha and Ms. Katherina Vogt from leXsolar gave some demonstrations on Solar Energy Module, Wind Energy Module and H2-O2 Energy Module.

In the second session, Dra. Cucu Zaenab Subarkah, M.Pd became the lead speaker who gave basic techniques and practices in using laboratory equipments, such as chemical equipments, fume hoods, making and diluting chemical  solutions, testing the power supply, testing the iron core of transformer model, the use of four-arm balance, basic meter and multimeter, use and maintenance of microscopes and introduction to digital microscopes.

Then on October 20, 2012, there was a training session on Phenomenon of Waves in Daily Life. This training on Physics was lead by Dr. Lilik Hasanah, M.Si. (Physics lecturer at FMIPA UPI Bandung), discussing about How To Teach Wave Phenomenon in accordance to the physics teaching standard and curriculum competence for Junior High and High Schools.

Participants were invited to do many practices on waves: Oscillation load on a spring, Helical spring and string resonance using vibration generator and audio frequency generator, Melde Law, Resonance on the blade and loop, Use of a resonance tube and oscilloscope, The resonance on Chladni plate, The Doppler effect, The simple vibration mode tool, Transverse and longitudinal waves using a slinky, Assembling and using a ripple tank to study the reflection, Refraction, Interference and diffraction of waves with water media, Sound analysis of a tuning fork using noise sensor, Microwave, Sound beat and analysis using sound sensors.
